A tier list template is a ready-made ranking grid that already has the tiers set up and a set of items to sort, so you can start ranking straight away instead of building the list from scratch.

Choosing a template

The best template is the one where you already have opinions. A ranking is only interesting when the person making it cares which things end up at the bottom, so pick the category you would argue about rather than the one that looks easiest to fill in.

Size matters too. Fifteen items is enough to make the tiers mean something and few enough that you will finish. Templates here are built at roughly that size deliberately - past about sixty entries most people abandon the list halfway, and an unfinished tier list says nothing at all.
