- How do you make a tech tier list?
- Pick a use case - work, travel, home - and rank categories against it. Technology that is S tier for one context is frequently unusable in another, so a context-free tech ranking says very little.
- Should I rank brands or product types?
- Product types are more useful and far more durable. Brand rankings tend to measure marketing and loyalty rather than whether the thing is any good.
- Should a tech tier list include software?
- It can, but keep it separate from hardware. Apps and devices are judged on very different things, and combining them tends to produce a list ranked by how recently you used something.
