Making a movies and tv tier list
Ranking film is where the difference between "good" and "favourite" gets awkward, and a tier list is unusually honest about it. Most people find their S tier fills with things they rewatch rather than things they would defend as the finest work, which is worth noticing before you publish the list and have to argue about it.
Try ranking twice - once for what you would rewatch and once for what you would recommend. The gap between the two lists is usually more interesting than either list on its own.

- How do you make a movie tier list?
- Choose whether you are ranking quality or rewatchability, then place each genre or title into a tier. The two produce very different lists, and deciding up front is what stops the ranking collapsing into a list of personal favourites.
- Should films and TV series be on the same tier list?
- Usually not. A two hour film and a forty hour series are judged on different things, so mixing them tends to produce a ranking that reads oddly. If you do combine them, say what the shared criterion is.
